Our own six barrel brewery in nearby East Sheen is where we produce the craft beers to be enjoyed in the brewhouse or at home.

The Brewery.

We hand-craft our beers in the traditional way. Slowly nurturing the magic of malt, hops and yeast, and always in small batches of up to 1,000 litres.

The brewery formerly operated as Kew Brewery, a micro-brewery we acquired in 2018. We won’t deny it was a struggle to make a small brewery without a tap room a viable business concern. The market is highly competitive, and good independent pubs in SW London are too few and far between to sustain the growth we needed.

So, when COVID-19 hit we shut down for a year and used the time to create a business plan and a brand that would transform the prospects of the brewery. We began the search for a brewhouse site that we could own and build a craft beer experience that would embrace craft beer lovers. CTZN Brew was born.

Recipes, recipes.

Recipes, recipes.

We have built on the original Kew Brewery range of recipes, tweaked and improved them, and produced a core range of styles from our flagship IPA to pale ales that experiment with hop and yeast combinations, to our sessionable English porter, and a pilsner full of freshness and sparkle, yet gentle on the ABV.

Cantankerous.

Cantankerous.

Let’s be honest – small batch brewing on simple traditional kit is hard work! Our kit is cantankerous when we need it to be ‘can-tank-for-us’ (see what we did there..?), but we wrestle it into submission each brew. At the end of all that we either bottle condition for a further two weeks, or keg and cask to bring it direct to you, on draught, at the brewhouse.

Adventure ahead.

Adventure ahead.

Our adventure beers will push the boundaries. They will experiment with hop combinations, flirt with tempermental yeasts, embrace unusual malts, and add ingredients that will seize the imagination. Using our small laboratory kit in the brewhouse our brewer Hugh will simply let his imagination run riot and through the smoke great things will emerge.
